Red Light Therapy Adelaide

Red Light Therapy is a non-invasive treatment pod which emits red light that penetrates deep into the skin, where it is absorbed by cell mitochondria, microscopic organelles that create most of the energy for the cells.

Lying down and resting in the Red Light Therapy Pod helps alleviate pain in the body, helps with skin issues, decreases inflammation and activates the lymphatic system, an important part of our immune system that helps carry waste out of the body.

Studies have shown that Red Light therapy accelerate wound healing, improve recovery from ischemic injury in the heart and attenuate degeneration in an injured optic nerve.

In this study it was also discovered that NIR-LED treatment prevents the development of oral mucositis in paediatric bone marrow transplant patients. Using Red light therapy improved wound healing in genetically diabetic mice by up-regulating genes important in the promotion of wound healing. More recent studies have provided evidence for the therapeutic benefit of NIR-LED treatment in the survival and functional recovery of the retina and optic nerve in vivo after acute injury by the mitochondrial toxin, formic acid generated in the course of methanol intoxication.

Based on these findings and the strong evidence that mitochondrial dysfunction is involved in the pathogenesis of numerous diseases processes, it is  proposed that NIR-LED photobiomodulation represents an innovative and non-invasive therapeutic approach for the treatment of tissue injury and disease processes in which mitochondrial dysfunction is postulated to play a role including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy and Parkinson's disease. Benefits of Red Light Therapy include:

Increases blood flow/circulation, helping bring more oxygen and nutrients to our cells and tissues

✅ Improves natural production of collagen and fibroblasts, important for things like skin joint and digestive health

✅ Repairs and restores damaged soft connective tissue

✅ Stimulates or decreases inflammation which helps control our natural healing capabilities

✅ Lowers effects of oxidative stress/free radical damage, which is associated with many effects of aging

✅ Improves wrinkles, cellulite and sore muscles

✅ Speeds up the healing of wounds and injuries

✅ Improves/restores range of motion

✅ Helps with: arthritis, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, plantar fasciitis (foot pain), post-surgical procedures, sciatica, shoulder pain, sprains, surgical wounds, torn ligaments and tendonitis.

A separate study was carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of a photobiomodulation treatment using red LEDs on the facial skin at a rate of two sessions per week for 3 months.

The efficacy results measured after 1, 2, and 3 months of use are progressive and confirm the interest of LED photobiomodulation to reverse the visible signs of skin aging. All the volunteers observed an overall improvement in skin quality.

All the results observed confirm the interest of using photobiomodulation to reverse the visible signs of aging. These results last for up to 1 month after stopping the use of the LED lights, which is a sign of lasting structural and functional rejuvenation of the skin.(2)

 FAQs

  • Less is best! You want all that light to touch as much of your body as possible!

  • Studies have shown that a few times a week is best, at least for the first few months and then you can do maintenance less frequently if you wish. Although, it'll be hard! Going in there is just so good.

  • The Red Light Pod is very warm after a few minutes, not as bad as a solarium for example but it does get nice and cosy. We do have a fan for those who like a little less heat.

  • Yes, you can. The red light pod gives you energy, while also relaxes you and promotes good sleep.
